This week I decided to pop into MAC - our local John Lewis now has a counter, and I couldn't resist really...
It was brought on by having 12 products to take back to MAC - which meant two free lipsticks!
I ended up picking up a few bits while I was there (au revoir wages!), so why not share what I bought, and review them at the same time. I was also really in the mood to blog, and after having spent the past 5 hours redesigning it, and taking over-edited pictures, I'm actually writing this.
As I mentioned earlier, I had 12 empty products to take back, including all my dried up foundations which were just sitting there looking glum - and I couldn't resist two free lipsticks. I picked up two pinky shades (I look like a stripper in any other colour, not really desirable y'know), and I'm in love with them both!
Chatterbox
Amplified, £15
The first shade is this beautiful fuchsia pink called Chatterbox. It has a wonder pigmentation, and looks so so pretty on the lips. It's from the amplified collection, which is probably my favourite finish, as the colour is really opaque, but still super hydrating.
As you can see from the swatch, it's super bright, but still really wearable, and will be great to use in the summer time. Definitely a firm favourite, with a flawless base and a pale pink blush.
Angel
Frost, £15
I've wanted this colour for ages, but it always seemed to be out of stock online, humph!
I wanted a 'your lips better better' kind of shade, and this is perfect. It has a frost finish, which is slightly sheer, but still provides great colour. I find with this lipstick, you don't have to blot, and the colour lasts for ages.
MAC describes this as a soft pink, which pretty much sums this up. I'm super pale (even NC15 foundations are a little too dark for me), but I find this just perfect. I also love wearing this if I fancy a more dramatic eye or contour look.
Eyeshadow Palette
Seeing as the lipsticks were free, I decided to treat myself to a new palette. I love MAC's eyeshadows, and I fancied creating a more neutral palette.
In the end, I chose two cream shades, and two brown shadows.
(left to right): Blanc Type, Mylar, Satin Taupe & Blackberry
The palette itself cost £6.50, and each shadow was £10.
Expensive, but worth it!
The shadows themselves are lovely, I use Blanc Type and Mylar as base and highlight - Satin Taupe and Blackberry as contour and crease shades.
I didn't swatch these as the colours come out the same as they appear on the palette.
In terms of finish, Blanc Type and Blackberry are matte - Satin Taupe and Mylar are satin.
These two finishes are my favourite, and it's nice to mix them up a little.
Eyeliner
Fascinating, £14
This was just a re-purchase, but I'm so glad I finally bought a new one.
I've had my other one for nearly 3 years, and it was getting pretty annoying to try and use.
I love this liner, it's super creamy and stays on all day.
I use this on my waterline to really brighten and open up the eyes.
I personally find this not too stark on my fair skin, but perhaps a darker tone would suit more of a cream colour.
Nonetheless, this is probably my all time favourite eyeliner!
Highlight
Mineralise Blush - Lightscapade, £32
This was definitely an impulse buy, but I couldn't help myself. Although it's sold as a blush, its main purpose is to highlight and brighten.
This thing is seriously beautiful, with a soft beige and multidimensional shimmer running through it.
The pictures don't really do it justice, but it's really hard to photograph how pretty it really looks.
Once swirled on a brush, it creates this wave of shimmer on the face - but doesn't look shiny or tacky.
Love love LOVE.
So that's everything - sorry if I've rambled on a bit.
What's your favourite MAC purchases recently?
Until next time,
