March Payday Wishlist

I love payday, doesn't everyone?
As payday soon approaches, I like to pretend I have a bottomless bank account, and for that one day a month, I can afford everything on my wishlist - oh how that would be magical!
But a girl likes to dream - so here are my wanted items this month!

I've been using the same contour kit for ages now, and I am intrigued by this one. I love Smashbox, and I like how this kit also contains bronzer - something I've really gotten into lately. I've swatched this a million times, but I've never picked it up!

I had a Casetify case for most of 2014, but I changed it at the start of 2015. I absolutely love their cases - the quality is incredible, and I find they are pretty resilient to my constant clumsiness.

I watched a YouTube video by Miss Budget Beauty, and she was raving about this powder. You actually put it on before foundation, as it's a powder primer, and it is said to keep oiliness at bay all day; I definitely need to try this!

I have recently run out of my Bodyshop Instablur (cries), and I've heard pretty good things about this one.  I'm yet to spot it in my local Boots or Superdrug, so I'll definitely be checking it out once it pops up.

I've seen so many beauty bloggers talk about this, so I think it's about time I tried it! My skin has a lot of redness and dark circles, and this is meant to be an amazing primer. I wonder if it's good for oily skin though...

I think everyone has this, and everyone loves it, right? I love theBalm, and I love highlighter, so my basket may be updated with this very soon...

I spotted this in Boots recently, and I've heard so much about it ever since. I tend to shy away from drugstore foundations, simply because they never have a shade pale enough (yay for pale...). I really want to give this one a go - so I may need to test it out with a little fake tan on first.

My favourite perfume ever. It smells like sweets, and lingers for hours - it's pricey but so worth it!

I bought a sample size of this early last year, and I really loved it. It smells great, and gave my hair so much thickness! It also lasted ages, so the price is justified.

I've spoken about these a lot to people since I first picked them up - I love them! They leave my skin so refreshed - almost like a mini facial. For £5 I can't complain!

What have you had your eye on for payday? Let me know!
Until next time,

Garnier Pure Active Range Review

I was wondering round Boots, as I do, constantly...
I came across a stand featuring new products from the Garnier Pure Active range - of course I saw '3 for 2 on Skincare', and instantly had to investigate.

The new products are designed for combination to oily & blemish prone skin - to which my face lit up, these sounded perfect! I ended up buying the Micellar Cleansing WaterMatte Control Moisturiser, and the 2 in 1 Wipes.

Micellar Cleansing Water - £4.99

I love the original Garnier Micellar Water, so when I saw the same product, but for oily skin, I had to pick it up! I use this to remove my make-up, and it leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh, and it really does remove every scrap of make-up.
It doesn't have any scent, and I find it's definitely more mattifying than the original micellar water. A must for the oily sufferers out there!

Matte Control Moisturiser - £6.99

It's a mattifying moisturiser, it targets breakouts, and controls oil for 8 hours. What's not to love right?!
The moisturiser is a blue light gel consistency, which I find sinks in the skin, and leaves it feeing matte but still hydrated. This contains salicylic acid, which is great for oily skin! I applied this alone without any primer, and then applied my make-up as normal, and I found after a 9 hour shift at work, my make-up was still intact! Of course, there was a little oil around my chin, but it was barely noticeable!

2 in 1 Wipes - £3.26

I'm not a massive make-up wipe person - I actually never use make-up wipes to remove any product, however they are useful for quickly cleansing your skin. I picked these up as they were technically free on the '3 for 2' offer in Boots. You get 25 wipes, which do contain salicylic acid (yay), and I do find that they mattify and refresh my skin. I used them after removing my make-up with the micellar water, just to cleanse and clarify the skin. I don't know if I'd buy them full price, simply because I go through make-up wipes far too quickly - although if they were on offer, I'd definitely pick them up again.

Have you tried this range? Let me know!

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Brow Wiz vs Dipbrow Pomade

Eyebrows - they can make or break a face!

In my opinion, brows need to be cared for, and paid attention to, just as much as any other part of your face when doing your make up.
So today I will be comparing/discussing/swatching my two favourite brow products EVER.

Both are from the fabulous Anastasia Beverly Hills brand, but I have reservations on both!

Possibly the weirdest product I've ever put on my brows - this is essentially a gel liner for your eyebrows, weird right?

I have two shades - Medium Brown & Dark Brown
To be honest, there isn't much difference between the two shades, and I would say if you have medium - dark brown hair these will suit you to the ground.
Now I don't actually have solid medium brown hair - I have blonde and caramel highlights throughout, although I can still easily use both colours!

The medium brown is a cool-toned brown, this would be perfect for ash brown or medium brown hair colours.
Dark brown is a warmer, rich brown shade - this would suit medium to dark brown, but with warmer tones in the hair.

So, what do I think of the dipbrow pomade?

The texture is quite thick, but creamy, and it's best to use a super thin brow brush with these.
The product can go on quite heavily, although it is very easy to sheer out. Creating a defined shape is ideal with this product, and it can make your brows look amazing!

Pros
It's waterproof, and smudge-proof - I mean it really doesn't budge. I've applied this at 8am, and it's still completely intact at 8pm.
You can achieve amazing results! I use a very thin brow brush, and I find you can create really shaped and sculpted eyebrows.
It will last forever - Ok, maybe not forever, but you get the idea! You only need a small amount, so it can potentially last a very long time.

Cons
It's time consuming - This definitely isn't a product to use when you're in a rush. You need time and precision to make this work, although the results are worth it.
If you use too much, there are consequences - Sounds silly, but I find if you're ever a bit heavy handed, you end up looking like this...

Brow Wiz - £15.50

Now Brow Wiz is your more typical brow product.
It is a dual applicator, with a pencil on one end, and a spooley on the other.

This product is great if you're after a more natural finish.
I find the pencil creamy and pigmented, and you only need a light hand to achieve a full brow.
I have mine in Medium Brown, which is slightly warmer-toned than the dipbrow pomade.

This product has a lighter, feathery feel compared to the dipbrow. I find creating movement at the front of my brow really easy, and you can use the spooley to blend the product.

What do I think of the brow wiz?

The soft pencil is great for quickly filling in the brows, and this product seems to last a full working day too.

Pros
Very easy to use - The pencil is really thin, but has a buttery texture, so creating hair strokes and filling in is so easy!
Takes no time at all - This is my go-to product for work brows
Looks more natural - This definitely loooks more natural compared to the dipbrow

Cons
Harder to achieve sharper results - Because the pencil is softer, the overall effect is slightly softer, so creating a sharper line takes a little longer

So what do I prefer?
Honestly, I love them both the same.
I use Brow Wiz for everyday, and Dip brow for night outs (or when I have longer to get ready!)
They work beautifully together though! I use Dip Brow to shape, and Brow Wiz to fill in.

So what do you think?
Have you tried either of these?
Until next time,

Happy Anti-Valentines Day

This Valentines Day I will be sitting at home watching re-runs of Friends with a double Disaronno.
So for all the singletons/cat ladies like me out there, don't fret!
Ignore all the lovey dovey pictures/statuses/tweets, and reconnect with the favourite men in our lives - Ben & Jerry

For all of you reading this, who are also so excited(!) about 14th February, why not join me in the Anti-Valentines Routine - just don't text the ex, promise?

However, if you are celebrating Valentines Day with your partner, have a lovely one regardless - I am allowed to be bitter for one day a year right?!

Step 1
Pour myself a Disaronno sour, and put the pepperoni pizza in the oven.

Now for all those non-alcoholic drinkers, just pour a glass of whatever your favourite drink is, even put a cocktail umbrella in there with sparklers if you want to!

Step 2
Watch Friends on Netflix

Whichever kind soul put my all-time favourite series on Netflix, deserves all the money in the world!
I don't care what season or episode - just let me pretend I live with Monica and Rachel in that apartment, and definitely don't have a weird crush on Chandler (Can anyone back me up here with that one?!)

Step 3
Make-up and Music time

Does anyone love to pretend they have an unlimited bank account and look at all the make-up you can't afford?
I usually window shop on Selfridges, and dream about the day I can add all the Charlotte Tilbury make-up to my basket, and not cry a river.
And of course listen to my favourite band ever - Red Hot Chili Peppers (either that or the Frozen Soundtrack)

Step 4
Laugh at Pun-filled Valentines Day cards

Just Google it, it will make your day!
Nothing is punnier (ha) on Valentines Day - the top left is my personal favourite

If all else fails, just Google Ian Somerhalder and thank his parents for having the most beautiful human being ever...

So happy Anti-Valentines Day from a bitter cat lady, have a good one!

Until next time,

Makeup Revolution February 2015

One of my favourite brands at the moment is Makeup Revolution. I've done a blog post about them before, but they just keep bringing out so much good stuff, and I can't keep up with it!
I've whittled it down to these items as must haves for February 2015, enjoy!

January Favourites 2015

January is such a weird month - so many broken new year resolutions, still working off that new years hangover, and wondering why the hell you confessed your undying love to S Club 7 to people you work with (I actually did this...)

Anyway, enough of reminiscing, the end of the month means one thing - FAVOURITES!
I've been loving so many products this year already, so here are a few of them -

I will always praise Estee Lauder for this beautiful foundation - it's the only product that gives my skin a flawless finish. It covers up all my blemishes and scarring; and glides over my pores so easily. I have mine in the lightest shade (surprise, surprise), and you only need about a 50p size amount to cover your entire face.
It isn't cheap, but if you are looking for full coverage, and longevity - it is so worth it

My dark circles will forever be grateful for this concealer.
This concealer is so SO good for covering any darkness (and redness) underneath and around the eyes, and it's the only concealer that doesn't crease on me - WOOHOO

I picked this up just after Christmas, as I had run out of my Dermablend setting powder, and really wanted to try something a bit different.
I love white setting powders, as they don't alter the colour of your base products. It's always a bit daunting putting stark white powder over foundation, but this one by MAC sinks in effortlessly, and leaves my skin feeling soft and perfectly set.
You also get a whopping 30g of product in here, so it will last you forever!

I had a No7 voucher from Boots to use (£3 off makeup), so I decided to pick this lip liner up.
I've been really impressed with it so far, it's super creamy and pigmented, and is easy to line and blend into the lips. I love the rosy-pink tone, and it looks especially great paired with MAC's Chatterbox lipstick.

I pretty much ran to work on the morning this was brought out with Elle's magazine!
I was so excited to try it out, as I am so fussy with mascaras - nothing ever gives my lashes any length! However, this one really REALLY does. It has short bristles over a curved wand, which grip the lashes and lengthen them so easily.
I am definitely going to be picking a full sized one up when it's released!

It's rose gold. It's Real Techniques. It's a contour brush.
Need I say more?
This is the best contour brush I've ever used - it makes sculpting my round face so much easier, and hey - it actually gives me cheekbones!
Granted, it's not cheap, but it's worth every penny - I promise you.

The one thing I am super fussy about is perfume. I am always drawn to musky sweet perfumes - and this one I fell in love with pretty quickly.
It has amber, jasmine, solar flower and cashmeran wood - it basically smells like heaven.
If you're a fan of perfumes like Prada Candy and Dior's Hypnotic Poison EDT - you will love this.
It also comes in a refillable bottle, which means you can buy the refill packets for less, and just keep reusing the bottle - genius!

I think this is my favourite nail varnish ever!
I love Essie nail varnishes anyway, but this is the most lovely lavender-toned silver metallic shade. I love how quickly it dries (I'm not kidding you, like 10 seconds)
It doesn't smudge, smear or chip easily.
The only problem is this is a discontinued line (sob), but you can probably hunt one down in nail salons, eBay etc.
L O V E

I picked this up after seeing someone on YouTube use it, and I'm so glad I did!
It's an ash copper shade, which once blended on the eye - leaves a glossy shimmery copper tone.
The texture is super creamy, but it blends well and doesn't crease.

I hesitated a LOT before picking this up - it's the most expensive face mask I've ever used, but is a game changer.
It sucks out all the oiliness, dirt and gross-ness from your face, and leaves your skin feeling super fresh and clean.
I suffer with a really oily t-zone, and this has dramatically changed my skin. I find my pores look smaller, and I suffer with less breakouts then I ever have before.
The only downside to it is the price - this small jar has about 5 applications, so I only use this on the areas where it is most needed.

This was an impulse buy, of course!
I can never just go into Boots/Suprdrug and buy what I need, I always have to pick up something else.
Anyway, this is a lovely product - it has a dofer applicator, and is really opaque. The colour is pretty vibrant, but you can easily sheer it out.
It also has a matte finish, which can sometimes be a little drying, so I normally apply a lip balm over the top.

And finally, a lip balm.
Sounds nothing exciting, but this EOS balm is AMAZING!
I have it in 'Strawberry sorbet', which is a creamy strawberry scent - but I just love how moisturising this product is.
I actually bought it from Topshop for £7 (which is pricey for a lip balm), but as soon as I saw it was EOS, I had to buy it!

Favourite music of January

Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
Imagine Dragons - Shots
Birdy - Light Me Up
Kodaline - One Day

What products did you love in the month of January? Let me know!

Bodyshop Wishlist February 2015

Oh Bodyshop, I love you.
Valentines is always a fun time for singletons like me (yay), so instead of receiving flowers, I'll be treating myself to some Bodyshop goodies this year.
My wishlist so far has grown in the past week, and these products may have to go into my basket very soon!

I hate removing my nail varnish, it always fills the room with that acidic scent, and leaves my nails feeling gross afterwards. This is infused with soya oil, so I'm hoping it will smell nicer and soften my nails/cuticles

Shimmer Waves - £16

I've had my eye on these for so long, but I've never actually picked one up. I've seen so many bloggers rave about them, so this month I will get one. I particularly want the 'blush' shade (which is the left picture), as I find all my blushes are quite matte, and I need a little glow once in a while!

I'm yet to smell the Smoky Poppy range (which is new, ooooh) - but Bodyshop have yet to disappoint me with their scents, and this one sounds amazing! Bath bombs also make baths so much better, so it's a no-brainer purchase really

Bodyshop's body scrubs are so good if you fake tan (I'm super super pale so of course I do!) - they exfoliate your skin and stop all that nasty TOWIE patchiness that makes my skin shudder. So of course when they bring out a new scent I need to try the body scrub, duh

I have a beautiful relationship with the Instablur face primer - it's the ONLY primer that doesn't make me look like a sweaty, oily mess after a few hours. So when Bodyshop announced they were bringing out an eye primer to match - my heart skipped a beat! (Not literally though, I think I would have panicked slightly...)
My eyelids are also quite oily, so I need need NEED this in my life!

Last but no means least, a Bodyshop body butter. Do I really need to say more? Their body butters are a god send, and the Wild Argan Oil range smells beautiful, so this is definitely going to be a February purchase

Have you tried any of these products out? Let me know what you think!

Until next time,
